  3. There’s a standard message that’s included with the email, but if you’d like to add a special message like: “Check this out you sketchy ho”, then type it into the Special Message area.
  4. Click Send Invites

Domain Mapping

Having an OutLoudBlogs.com address tells the world you’re a smart person, but there may come a time when you want your own domain name, like myowndomain.com.

It’s easy cheesy for our Pro and Premium bloggers to map a domain that you already own to OutLoudBlogs.com.

  1. Create an A Record at your registrar that points your domain to our IP address 72.44.81.123.

If you’re not sure how to create an A Record, ask your registrar and they should be able to help you. If they can’t help you contact us and we’ll try to help you.

NOTE: When A Records are edited, it can take some time for the change to fully take effect across the internet (up to 24 hours, but normally much less).

  2. Go to Dashboard -> Tools -> Domain mapping in your blog’s dashboard.

  3. Enter your registered domain name into the form at the top of the page.

  4. Click the Add button to the far right to save your changes.

If the A Records have propagated correctly throughout the internet you should now be able to type your domain name into your browser and see your OutLoudBlogs.com blog!

Neato sweeto, eh?

Advertise your blog’s RSS feed

OK, so you’ve got your blog up and running, you’re writing good content and waiting for people to discover you. If you’re not waiting to be discovered you can stop reading here and move on to something else.

RSS Feeds
RSS stands for really simple syndication and at one point most believed it would replace email as the way to receive information on the internet. Ultimately that hypothesis proved false, but RSS is really effective at pushing content to people who are interested in a subject, blog, story, website, etc…

Fortunately, you don’t have to do understand the inner workings of RSS and feed syndication because we’ve taken care of all of the RSS work for you.

RSS on OutLoudBlogs
By default, all of our themes at OutLoudBlogs have RSS feed capabilities built right in, and some even display the following RSS icons or text links:

Most successful bloggers believe you need an RSS button prominently displayed to build your subscriber list, and that’s why we’ve installed the Subscribe Me widget — which you can easily display in your blog’s sidebar or footer.

Note: Some themes already display a big RSS button in their sidebar by default. If that’s the case with your theme then you don’t really need to do this unless you like the rollover effect of this widget.

Enabling the Subscribe Me widget

  1. Log in and proceed to your blog’s dashboard.
  2. From the Appearance menu select the Widgetssubmenu.

  3. Open the sidebar or footer area where you want the widget to appear by clicking the arrow in the title bar.

  4. Drag and drop the Subscribe Me widget into the opened sidebar or footer.

  5. Rename the title and/or text that displays next to the widget and save.

Wasn’t that easy cheesy? Now visitors can discover your blog’s feed.

Adding Video To Your Posts

Embedding video is a great way to bring your post to life; making it easy to add video is our job.

Two simple ways to add video to your blog

  1. Really quick, really simple way is to post the URL into your post’s content area.   Make sure that the URL is on its own line and not hyperlinked (clickable when viewing the post).

    Example (do not include quotes)

We’ll automatically turn that URL from YouTube into a embedded video when the post is viewed. (Make sure “Auto-embeds” is enabled in Settings > Media SubPanel.)

    OR

  2. Simply paste the embed code provided by the video sharing service into your post.

Here’s the embed code screen from YouTube where you can set options like dimensions, colors, etc before you copy the embed code.

YouTube Customization Submenu

Then paste that code directly into your post.

Don’t forget to save your work.  Neato, huh?

Admin Bar for easy navigation

By default at the top of every OutLoudBlogs page rests the Admin Bar with links to the OutLoudBlogs home page, log in and join buttons, and a visit random blog or member link way over to the right.

The bar allows users to login and get back to the OutLoudBlogs’ home page from anywhere on the site.
