It was a high-stress day for me. I had a bill on the floor, which meant a long day of watching both Democrats and Republicans spew pre-fabricated talking points, pontificate about policy, and occasionally hear a genuine message of concern about spending and law. I had only been a legislative assistant (an “L.A.” as they’re [...]

Did you know that Elizabeth Dole is responsible for saving the demolition of Union Station in DC? That’s one of the things she did as Sec’y of Transportation under Reagan.

It had been a rough few weeks. Actually, make that a rough few months. My boss had recently died, which–emotional issues aside (and there were emotional issues)–necessitated closing a Congressional office, attending a funeral and finding new work. In looking for work, through some connections, I found myself in the employ of one of America’s most [...]

What Happened? So, it’s been a bit since I sat down to write. I can pile on a ba-jillion reasons why, but the most honest one is that this dalliance with the gym fizzled as so many others have. For right now, that’s okay. The goal was to conquer my fear of going to and being [...]

I know I’ve take a bit of a break from my blogging, but since today is National Coming Out Day and since the news is flush with these devastating teen suicides, I made this video to tell you that it gets better. Something’s been missing for a little over a month. Oh…wait…that’s me at the gym. Or doing exercise of any kind. I have a million excuses, one of which is actually even really good. But that’s exactly what they are: excuses. So it seems I can “talk the talk” but not “walk the walk.” This really [...]

I’m frustrated. With myself. After missing the gym all last week, I was determined to get a workout in this weekend and get the week started off right with a great Monday night workout. The weekend came and went without so much as me looking in the direction of the gym (though I did walk [...]

Who would’ve thought this all would unravel in the third week? It’s Wednesday night and I haven’t darkened the door of the gym since…well…since last Thursday. What gives? Well, for starters, there was the margarita the size of my head last Friday. Then the two-martini dinner before “Avenue Q” on Saturday. (Sidebar: if you haven’t [...]
